Algunos puntos importantes serian:

Hanging framed art on our walls is in itself an art... if we want them to look good and harmonious to the rest of the environment, we must follow a few rules that will help us.

A few important points:

  • The edges of the frames shouldn't be too close to furniture or the ceiling.
  • We shouldn't place framed art following a horizontal line of more than three or so units.
  • It's not a good idea to use different style frames in one room.
  • Try to not, whenever possible, hang an uneven number of frames. Try to keep the number even.

But there's more, depending on the room and its different characteristics. The room in which we usually hang the most framed art is the living room. Depending on its characteristics, we will decide which pattern to use

Another option that is very in vogue nowadays is to hang frames and mirrors in a cross shape.

If the living room is small we logically want to make it seem larger. For this, it is necessary to reduce the amount of frames. Likewise, it's a good idea to opt for larger items that give us the sense of decoration on our walls, without overloading them. Another important recommendation is to decorate the sofa area with large mirrors and wide frames, which will give us an air of amplitude.

Stairs give us an excellent opportunity, because there's nothing better than to go up the steps admiring all the art hung around them.

For the dining room, it is advisable to match the color of the frames to those of the dining table and chairs. So, if they're white, the tones of the frames should be soft.

On a large wall, it is best to hang triptychs, large frames, or groups of smaller ones, but with a main idea in mind. This is to say, various scenes related by theme: plants, landscapes, etc.

We must remember that, the smaller the frames, the shorter the distance between them must be. Likewise, the larger, the longer the distance. The reasoning behind this rule is found in the correct composition of the ensemble, and this is why it is also very important that the width of the frames isn't larger than the space we leave in between them.

The frames in a bathroom are very useful decoratively. If we hang frames vertically, one on each side of the mirror, they would create a perfect effect. If they're smaller, we must put two or three on each side. We can also hang them above the lavatory. The themes we choose for bathroom art must be flowers or those related to cleanliness, like bathtubs, washbins, etc.

For homes with low roofs, it is preferable to use vertically longer frames. A good option are triptychs. It is advisable for them to be large and occupy a considerable amount of space.
